Skyline Rapsody
(on the occasion of the exhibition “Come sempre dove sai”, by Luca Pancrazzi, FPAC, Palermo)

03-12-2016 / 28-01-2017

Developed for Luca Pancrazzi’s solo exhibition Come sempre dove sai at FPAC, Palermo, Skyline Rapsody is a sound work based on sampling a pencil drawing of an urban skyline.

The graphite trace becomes the source of a sonic translation process. The visual rhythm of the drawing — its density, interruptions and variations — is transformed into sound, generating an evolving composition of echoes, distances and resonances.

The work establishes a correspondence between drawing and listening, allowing the skyline to move from visual representation into an acoustic space. The graphite line becomes a form of notation: a boundary between landscape and score, image and sound.

Conceived as part of the exhibition, Skyline Rapsody extended Luca Pancrazzi’s visual work into the acoustic dimension of the gallery.
