Nn, ovvero non conosco nome
27-12-2016 / 27-01-2017Alessio de Girolamo, a new-generation sound and visual artist, presents at the Inner Room a powerful interaction with a commanding pantograph machine, engaging in a duet through the musically pre-digested sounds it produces. Once captured electronically, these sounds are performed live in duet with the machine in action, which engraves the score written by de Girolamo himself. The entire process aims to generate an act of sound music. Emerging from the artist’s attentive spirit of observation, this musical periodic table takes shape through a precise dialogue with the technique of numerical-control engraving, here understood as a paraphrase of an execution carried out on behalf of the performer.
A reversal of perspective unfolds, as in a mirrored scale, where the elements are observed simultaneously in their differing appearances.
For the first time at the Inner Room, a productive element of the hosting company is assumed as both stylistic hallmark and true medium—one that reproduces and produces. In fact, works by de Girolamo made through engraving are also on display.
